With "Young Ecologists" of "Gjergj Vatë Martini" school in Velipoja and RAPA Shkoder for constructing and placing of artificial nests for birds. This time, schoolchildren constructed a few artificial bird nests to help the birds of Velipoja Reserve. Excitement during the construction and placing of artificial nests will be followed by continuous monitoring in order to spread the news for the first nesting birds. Stay tuned with AOS! #RECShqipëri #ACHIEVE #EuropeanUnionAlbania.
Promoting bird activism with children of Zogaj (Shkodra, Albania) with Aurora Piroviq. Everyone is very much focused! The project is supported REC Albania in the framework of the "Albanian Civil Society for a European Environment" (#ACHIEVE) funded by the European Union in Albania.
Little Egrets, Gulls, Coots, Buzzards, Reed Buntings, Red-breasted Mergansers, Dalmatian Pelicans, Pygmy Cormorants, Flamingos and a lot more. For us winter is the best season!
Do not consider every gull as all the other ones. They are different although we often think about them only as “gulls”. A careful observation would be enough to spot the Slendered-billed Gull or the Rozy Gull as we call them in Albanian. It takes this name from the rosy plumage shown almost all the year round. Similarly to Flamingoes it takes this color from the tiny crustacean (Artemia salina) that serve as their main dish. While swimming looks like a rounded boat. A small dot behind the eye makes its sighting more particular.
Now it’s the best timing to observe it while rosy flocks of hundreds of individual look for food in brackish wetlands or Salinas. Observing or taking pictures of them it’s a real pleasure for everybody. As for us during the first weekend of February 2017.
This time, at “Gjergj Vatw Martini” school Velipojë (Shkodra) for the foundation the "Young Ecologists" Group for the protection of nature in Nature Managed Reserve of Bunë-Velipojë. Today, 2nd of February 2017, World Wetlands Day, with children from Zogaj (Shkodra) to offer food and feeders (from recycled materials) to birds of the Ramsar Site and Nature Managed Reserve of Lake Shkodra in these cold winter days. A special feeling as children prepare feeders and manage to place them around the small school of the border village. Today birds have a few more friends! This activity is supported by REC Albania in the framework of the "Albanian Civil Society for a European Environment" (#ACHIEVE) funded by the European Union in Albania. #AOS #WorldWetlandsDay #Recycling #Birdfeeders #Zogaj (Shkodra)
